I have a 2012 E350 passenger van.It is an XL with factory power windows and power door locks, no cruise control. It did not come with the factory keys remote fob.
I called the Ford dealer in my town and and gave them my VIN. The parts person looked the options and said yes it came with power door locks but does not have the remote system. However, the van has the same module that controls the power locks as the ones with the remote system. He is not sure if the module has to be reprogrammed to add the fobs or replaced with the upgraded one. The has normal keys, no chips.
My question is do I have to purchase a new upgraded module to have working remotes or can the original module be programmed to accept fobs?
I have been told by a locksmith and the Ford dealer that if the right front passenger door has a key lock in the outside handle that it is not equipped with keyless remote but still can have power door locks.
Would appreciate any response.
