Default Is this frame damage?

Hey, new guy here. Ive been a chevy guy my whole life but I have been looking into Econoline vans recently. I do have my eye on one. Something caught my eye and I wanted to clarify. The whole vehicle seems to be in great shape however , on the picture you can see what seems to be a triangle shape and square etc. in the frame. Is this damage or is this part of a ford designed frame? I am thinking of purchasing this vehicle so I thought I would check first. Side note, do you know why the fords always seem to rust below the drivers door and floor pan? Seen so many like this.

Thanks in advance guys.

From your pix it appears as superficial rust, not very serious. Some chassis have holes for accumulated water /dirt to drain.

There is nothing like actually looking at everything in person, but there are,,,,,I am sure vehicles in a lot worse condition running on the roads.
