Default Front brakes

First off I'm a newbie to this forum. that being said, if this has been covered I apologize in advance. Does anyone know if there is an upgrade for a 1999 E 150's front brakes. I have owned this van since new and in 112,000 miles I have gone through 9 sets (top of the line) front pads to 1 set of shoes on the rear. Any help would be great

thanks Dwayne

I'm not a mechanic but I do my own brakes. Also have a '99 E150 that I bought new. I put a new set of front pads/rotors on every year primarily because of the weight in the vehicle. They tell me this is normal. The rears have only been done a couple times. Advance auto has some oversize pads they sell but have not tried them yet.

Hope this helps

Have had a few years experience and quite a few Econolines in a mixed fleet and in the very beginning a Ford parts salesman came to my shop and told me I would get much better mileage out of original Ford pads, so I tried them and he was right. I have never used any other pads since. They may cost a little bit more, but I didn't have to replace them as often and with more than 60 Econolines I couldn't afford to be doing repeat brake pad replacements. Try a set and I hope you have been keeping records of how long the others have gone before requiring replacement.
Hope you have been keeping the caliper pins clean and lubricated.
