Default Lock-up Converter, Front Seal

Hello All,
I have a 1993 E-350 with the 5.8 and E4OD tranny. I have a question or two and would appreciate the help.
The converter squeeks, just like a belt would squeek, when the converter locks up. Its not slipping, or jumping or vibrating, just squeeks. If it didnt squeek, there would be no problem at all. And it only does it when the converter locks.
So, I disabled the lock-up, so the squeeking would stop till I figured out what was the problem, then the front seal blew. Thankfully close to home.
So, my questions are, should I just replace the converter and seal? Is there something else that might cause the squeek? If I just replace the seal and leave the converter disabled, will it just blow again?
I want to spend as little as possible on it as we just drive it locally, and not many miles at that. We live in a hilly area and the lock up is actually a headache as it drove much better w/o it.
Thanks much!

I believe in 1993 the E350 had a 5.8 engine and an E4OD trans. It is important to have the correct info to hopefully come up with a worthwhile suggestion. Can you provide the engine code and trans code that should be on the door sticker?
