Default Need help identifying this noise

After some hard towing my 2004, E150 4.6L (143k) has developed a fairly loud ticking sound. It seems to be loudest behind the engine or in the transmission bell housing.

So far I’ve replaced the flex plate but am having a hard time justifying putting any more money into exploratory efforts, trying to fix this noise.

A few suggested issues have been a possible cracked flex plate which turned out to not be the issue, a broken transmission pump or even a failed valve lifter at the back of the motor.

One suggestion was to try replacing a quart of engine oil with ATF with hopes of cleaning out and loosening up any stuck lifters.

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!

**** sorry about double posting on this issue, I am new to the forum, and couldn’t quite figure out how to reply to my other thread….. or post, the YouTube video of my ticking noise.
