Default New to Forum. Tune up?

I just picked up a 2000 E250 to replace my 1993 E-250. My "new" van has a 6 cyl. engine. I would like to do a tune up. Do I need to use Motorcraft plugs and wires? How about the tranny? Van has 129K and was an AT&T service vehicle. Any other things I should look for while the doghouse is off? I was also thinking of getting a scangauge II to monitor my mileage etc. Any experience out there?

Ford engines for some reason perform better longer with Motorcraft plugs, except for the two piece plugs.

I have noticed that on my 95 Town Car, it really likes copper motorcraft plugs. Are Platinums OK? BTW What is a two piece plug?

Some Ford engines had a problem getting the plugs out to change them because they would separate on attempt to remove them. The problem only applied to certain engines in Ford trucks and has been corrected . If you want more info on it you might try to google Ford spark plug problems.
They don't make cars like that Town car anymore for various reasons, but they were one of the best riding cars you could get at that time and probably today too.
