We don't know at this point if the radio is not getting power or if the connections to the speakers could contain the problem. Once we have that info we go from there.

The alternate consideration might be to undo all you did before the radio problem surfaced and do the steps one at a time until you come across the step that causes the radio to work as it is working now. Not sure if giving the lunch back will help that much.

I would think if it were te MLPS you would have more problems than just the radio.
We need to confirm your theory that the power is lost by actually measuring it or if you can see the display disappear. Is that the case?
It may just be coincidence that the radio problem surfaced at this time and not be related to anything that was done. So far, has anything or any other function been affected that you might have noticed ? Not knowing the entire history we could be here all day coming up with theories. Other than tracing back from the radio to it's voltage supply point everything is up for grabs including it's ground connection.

The only MLPS that I had replaced for alike issue was in a mini van.
With its symtoms, the radio, P/W’s and such would drop out when placed in Reverse, but worked in Drive.. By design, during a start, the accessories are canceled out as a power saving/protection feature for cranking the engine. But not actually done through the MLPS. Being only your radio is affected, or at all, would be a good one.
