Default Overheating e350 2006 6.0 diesel

Hi all, I am having a heck of a problem with this vehicle, it will blow coolant out and the idiot gage will jump up to hot. But when I pullover and turn the van off and immediately restart the gage goes back to normal, and some coolant was spit out of the over flow tank pressure valve. And then I can drive a number of miles 100s maybe on flat ground. But when I am in mountain and running AC it may happen more.

Today I did a head leak test and I got nothing back indicating one.

The van is a 4x4 lifted and heavy mods like bulikes and racks.

I have taken the van in no less than 4x and no shop has been able to fix it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks

We have a very experienced 6.0 diesel tech on the forum. If he sees your post I'm sure he will help.
Sorry my diesel experience is limited to Cummins and Detroit diesels.
I have had good shops look at it and they come up with, it's fine... But it aint fine.

The other day I drove it 30 miles without the AC on, and it did it at around 15 miles out. Then leaving the destination it did not do it at all. I am stumped by this 100%.

I removed the engine cover and i confirmed that when brought up to running temp that the cooling fan was turning on. I think about a year ago the cooling fan sencor was replaced.

The overflow box and cap was replaced, the thermostat was replaced, the coolant was replaced, the fan sencor was replaced.

I can't even guess what to do next, lift the cab and rebuild the whole motor, or pull the whole front end off and record all the radiators???

I can't even sell the thing because it has this problem.

Thx for the reply, and I would like to hear more about this from you guys.

Here is a pic

I did this test, and the coolant level rose from 20foz to 50foz and when it cooled it went back to 20foz. It did bubble when it filled up and the van was at temperature.

I did this test for exhaust and it came back clean, no exhaust in the liquid and never turned green. I am at a loss for this at this point, help please!

Might be time to look at the water pump and possibly corroded radiator.

It's looking like I might have too.

I have a small amount of black resides in the overflow tank. I am thinking exhaust because the oil in the motor is new and clear.

Any advice is appreciated because taking the front end off is going to be a hassle????
