Puzzle
4 bbl. I had it rebuilt and only one shop within 50 miles of here still works on carbs. The dealers won't touch one. A new one was over $300 and then there would still have been the labor of replacement. I can't see good enough to do it anymore. I went to carb school many years ago but My eyes are getting bad.

Something to consider,
You would be surprised how many kids would love an opportunity to learn how to rebuild a carburetor properly. The problem is finding them. If you have the desire to pass on your knowledge and experience some young fellow in trade school would probably love to have the chance. Next time you are at the auto parts store inquire if they know anyone that is interested. The proper methods always produced good results and knowledge kept in a jar did no one any good. Maybe that's why we're here. Providing the carb was rebuildable (shafts and housings not too badly worn) a student would benefit from your knowledge and experience while you directed him/her with the steps and procedures.

If only I had time. I am almost 67, taking college courses (because I can), working part-time and babysitting two grandchildren 5 afternoons a week. I guess when spring gets here, I will start from the beginning again with the van windows. I can't let it beat me. I am having trouble again with the battery going down, too. I just wonder if the two problems are somehow connected?

Many moons ago I was dispatched on a road call at night for a dead battery and the vehicle wouldn't start. Well, I jump started it and checked the charging system and it wasn't charging much at all. This was a vehicle with a DC generator so that gives you an idea of how far back this goes. I told the service manager the vehicle needed a generator and someone would have to go and replace it on the day shift.
When I got to work the next day I couldn't believe what a dumb mistake I made and that was the belt wasn't tight enough. So now that is one of the first things I would check with any starting/charging problem. So simple, that is why so many folks imagine a complicated problem when you should start with the basics. How is the belt on your van ? It is possible it is putting out enough to appear OK, but not enough to avoid other electrical supply problems.

I can put it on a full charge with a battery charger and if it isn't driven, it will go down in a few days. I have had the battery tested twice and have used a meter to check for a draw when it's sitting. I have a lot of checking to do on it, hopefully on spring break.
Well crap, just found out by accident, there is a power window relay on this van. Could it be working intermittingly?
Also supposed to be a "power module" somewhere?

I'm not aware of any power module on your van. One question I would like to ask is,
Were the problems you were having with the power windows occurring with both doors?
If so, and there is a relay, it could be working intermittently. However, if the problem is confined to just the driver's door that would eliminate the relay and confine the problem to the driver's door area. Will look forward to your reply.
