Default Remove dash trim panel to access auxiliary relay box 2

2004 Ford E350 6.8L 2WD Auto

I am trying to remove the dash trim so I can (hopefully) replace the interior dome light relay in (what is called in the owner's manual) auxiliary relay box 2, which is said to be located behind the radio. Can anyone offer any help on how I can do this so I can avoid breaking something? I think there are two 7mm bolts that need to be removed, as well as the handle you pull to turn on your headlights, but I stuck a little trim tool behind the panel and it seems pretty firmly attached. There is not very much help available in regards to video tutorials etc for the E350. Is there another model that is similar to the Econoline that I could search also for help? Thank you!

Locate power point and cigar lighter above.

Attach some pics of your dash here so we can assist further on how to remove your entire or partial of your dash. You shouldn't even need to mess with your headlight switch ****, even if you do need to remove you don't just pull, there is a trick without breaking the ****.
And why you need to replace the relay? You said dome light so I assume it's one piece, if two pieces that's called map light instead. If you need to test your dome light you can just remove the cover and test it there, not necessary to go thru the relay.
Full wiring diagrams in pdf below.

Here are some pics of the dash that I need to remove. As far as replacing the relay, it all goes back to the following thread where you suggested that's what I should do:

Thank you for all the help.

You have one piece panel, you have to remove the stereo and the headlamp switch in order to remove this whole panel. Remove the stereo first.
If you search youtube quite a few guides are misleading telling you to pry the headlamp **** and you get scrub marks afterward. Instead, you need to:
1) remove the knee panel under your steering column, crimp from the back and pull from the front, do that one by one
2) behind it is a (usually rusty) bolt-on metal panel, remove that, then you should have enough room to get to the back of the switch with your right hand
3) do it from under the steering column, use your right hand and get to the top of the headlamp switch, there is a metal tab you simply press down, then use your left hand to pull the ****, then the **** along with its skinny pole should come out together
Before doing step 3 it's best to turn your **** all the way to the left or right so you can remember its position, it helps when you put it back in since it's more difficult on that.
4) once you get the panel half out, what's attached to the back is 1 connector to the power point, 2 to the cigar lighter
5) lower your shifter you should be able to pull the entire panel out

You might not need to remove it entirely to get to the relay, it should be behind your cigar lighter.

BTW I see that your shift indicator is not aligning 100% pointing to your PARK position, there is a white **** (only one white **** in the surrounding area around the size of a quarter or smaller) very close (within 6 inch toward the center) from your ignition switch, you turn that **** by hand clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the indicator needle position.

Thank you! You are a saint. 🙂👍Thanks so much for the detailed description. I am by not at all mechanically inclined, but with a video tutorial or easy-to-understand instructions, I can usually get the job done. I hope to get this done in the next month or so and give you an update. If it goes well I may make it into a video tutorial.
