Default steering box

Hi guys,
The guys working on my van, checking everything out says the steering box is sloppy and has play. He indicated to me rebuilding it does not help it goes back to that soon.

Whats the deal?

Jeff

It is not good to offer suggestions from distant places when someone there can see more of the problem.
Time and mileage are important considerations with something like this. A lot of wear is difficult to compensate for, whereas, if adjustment is adequate , that may solve the problem of excess ply. Usually , if the adjustment is done in the proper sequence , it can solve the problem, but this is not recommended if the internal worm and sector parts are really worn.
It takes some time to do the checks correctly and many places prefer to replace the steering box assy versus replacing internal parts.
You might consider a second opinion from another experienced shop.
