I was looking for a little advice. I am replacing the blown 2.3 L engine in my 2008 Ford escape I am having a harder time finding the 2.3 but I have found a lot of 3.0L. I was wondering how I would figure out if the 3.0 would mount to the transmission of the 2.3 L and would the external parts, alternator air, conditioner, etc. mount comfortably to the 3.0.

 

If you can't find a 2.3L you just need to be patient and wait. Or just look for the same 2.3L motor found on Fusion or Ranger, way better than swapping to a 3.0L.

 

You might want to look into what kind of computer electronics are involved.

If might fit physically, but if different electronically , you might not even get it started.

If possible , try to get the same engine from the same year and model as the one coming out.

The manufacturers change things from year to year and even mid year. There is no such thing as "General" anymore. Everything today is "Specific" which makes it a little complicated.
