There presently is a code in the vehicle security system that the key must match before it will allow the vehicle to start.

A "certified locksmith" Has security clearance, can access the security info for your vehicle and code keys for you. A dealership can do this also.
Locksmith is usually cheaper.

Suggest you have 2 "working keys" made and after that you can code up to 8 yourself.
You don't have much choice presently and will require road service from one or the other.
