That's how we feel when we get too much of anything. You're probably facing Clunkphobia due to the heavy stress you went through. Don't worry you're not going to have bad experiences with the new one.

Default Don't give in

To All
Tell ford you want a new tranny. I had the problem of hesitation and the feel of leaving the tranny on the floor. I told them enough is enough I gave them 4 opportunities to fix it, replace it or give me a new car. they had a tranny in it in a week and I also asked for an extended no cost warranty and they gave it. If your car is unsafe don't screw around put your foot down and demand a fix. I was a ginny pig because I know the owner and gave them extra chances but enough was enough

Default Fix it or replace it

Ford has already said there is a problem by replacing your tranny. If they gave up then you should get another car or they need to fix it. Lemon Law, contact Ford customer relations and cc your dealership or visa versa. Where is your dealership?

I just a couple of months ago purchased a pre-owned certified 2008 ford edge with 27,000. I had been driving a mercury cougar which i had good luck with and thought i would stick with ford. I loved my edge when i first got it and still do. But was headed out of town last Thursday stopped at store in a small town to go to rest room pulled back out on the highway and was almost rear ended because of loss of power. A wrench light came on and i was lucky to be infront of a ford dealer. My warranty paid for the fix, but after reading all of the news about the transmission problems i do not feel real secure getting out on the road with it any longer.

Default Edge transmission problems

Just wanted to say that our 2008 ford Edge also has the same transmission problems as posted thru out this site. After 6 months 13k miles, 7 failed attempts to repair/diagnos and hours talking to the dealer and ford motor company the phone the problem still exists-- while traveling along the highway the vehicle makes an extremely loud bang followed by a violent jerk/shutter. Which feels exactly like the vehicle has been rear ended and is very frightening to experience. Both ford dealership and ford motor company can not do anything unless they can duplicate concern. The problem would occur so erratically on the last attempt ford tech line approved installing flight recorder into the vehicle. The recorder caught the malfunction as it occured. Returned to the dealer they removed the recorder and said that it definitely had data on it but they needed to consult with the ford tech line to interpret the data. After not hearing from dealer for three days I called the service manager and he
said sorry ford could not diagnos the problem and to not come back until I could readily duplicate the problem. I have had enough of ford not admitting there is a problem. I have just registered my complaint with the nhtsa the better business bureau and will be starting lemon proceedings! If anyone has any other avenues i could use, please advise

I have to say that after driving a couple of junkie rental cars (Kia & Dodge) while my 2010 Ford Edge was in the shop for the 2nd time in 6 days, I love the way the Edge drives when it is working properly! My car started acting up in November with only 1,900 miles on the vehicle with the car idleing rough at a complete stop (that went away after a few weeks). Then 2 months go by and when the low gas indicator came on and the car stalls at a stop light, but starts right back up. It also had a rough shift between 2nd & 3rd gear. Then last week when at a complete stop the car lost power for a brief second when I went to accelerate...this happened 3x's in a 5 minute period. So I took it into the shop last Thursday (with only 3,017 miles on my 4 month old car) to have them take a look and they found a stuck valve in the tranmission and replaced the MAF sensor. I got the car back Monday evening only to return it Tuesday evening because of another stall out while sitting at a light right after the low gas indicator came on and loss of power (engine still on) while driving...pulled over turned it off and turned back on so I could make it back to the dealership only to have the car lose power 3 more times and feel very rough when it would go. LET ME TELL YOU HOW STRESSFUL THIS WAS WITH MY 5 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR WITH ME! So we finally made it back to the dealership and within a day they replaced the throttle body...now that I have it back let's hope that it is fixed until the lease is up in 2 yrs 7 mths!!

I bought 2010 Edge in April 2010. I noticed the speed would vary but thought it was just my foot slipping off the gas pedal. After having the car for a few months and being at a complete stop, when I gave it gas, the engine would rev but the car would not go. Then it would suddenly accelerate. I have taken it to the dealership and they kept it for a week but could not duplicate. I got so frustrated that I just took it back, praying I would not get in a crash with my kids. They told me to bring it back as soon as it happened again and they would put it on the computer. Well, it finally happened again today but they need to actually be in the car and get it to duplicate before getting a diagnosis. It is so sporadic that it may happen a few times close together or wait a few months to happen again. The problem has happened with my husband driving, so it is not just me. He thinks the transmission is not engaging. Has anyone else had this problem? I love the car otherwise but don't want to get rid of it because of the money I have invested in it. However, the dealership is really making me angry not helping.

Not to jinx myself...but I have had my 2010 Edge back from the dealership shop for 6 days, and knock on lots of wood it is running great! For any of you having the same issues I "had", please request them to look at the MAF sensor, throttle body, and check the valves in the transmission (I am not motor/transmission savvy, so excuse me if I didn't type this info the correct way)! ;-)
