Default file a complaint with NHTSA

So I just called Ford Customer Relations 800-392-3673 to file a complaint about the transmission issue we all share. The rep made it seem like no one had ever mentioned it before which is BS because there are PLENTY of Edge owners with the same mysterious tranny problem.

As someone in another forum suggested, I am now going to file a complaint with the NHTSA about this problem. I encourage you all to both call Ford at the above number and make it clear you want your complaint registered and file a complaint with what I hope is the body that might bring about some much-needed attention to this matter.

Yezenia, So after you had the tranny replaced it still didn't work??? Was it still making the bang noise or was it something else? Actually i didn't even ask you what your biggest problem with your edge was.. We paid $18500.00 before taxes for the edge and to trade it in the dealers say they will only give us $12000.00 for it, so just owning it for 6 months we would be taking quite a hit!!!! This sucks!!!!

It is common practice for all manufactures to say "we have no other complaints regarding your issue with your vehicle" They seem to forget about the internet that it is now easier to share our problems etc. The Idiots can't hide anymore...

Carla, yes, even after a transmission replacement (new tranny not rebuilt or refurbished or whatever else they call it) it started doing the same thing within weeks of the new transmission. I'll need to organize all my invoices to make a complete timeline of my complaints, but the new tranny seemed to have fixed the jarring bump/bang for a while, I loved my Edge again, and figured that was that. Family friends, a couple, bought the same car, make and model as mine on the same day. Theirs started having different issues than mine, if I recall correctly, but it was enough to make them get rid of their Edge a year ago. The husband was actually the one who sold me the Edge, he was working for a Ford dealership at the time, and he had the good sense to get rid of their Edge. I should have followed their lead.

Anyway, I can see why you'd be hesitant to get rid of it. I bought my Edge just before the recession made headlines from a failing dealership, so I basically got it for half off. This makes it easier for me to get rid of it because I miraculously have equity in the car. I can walk away with a down payment on something more reliable. I was REALLY looking forward to not having a car payment.

I've shared my situation with a different circles and the consensus, including a mechanic, said that if I'm having this many issues up to this point, I can only expect it to go downhill from here. I am sorry to say Ford has finally lost my business.

Yezenia,
That is what i am afraid of, replacing the tranny and still not working right. Then to top it off i went out to start the car this morning to take my kids to school and it was completely DEAD!!! Wont turn over, won't do a thing!!!!! I called my dad and he is on his way into town now as we speak.....So frustrated!!! I'm glad you didn't loose out money wise on your edge so you were able to get rid of it. Wish i was in the same position as you that way. Looks like we are in for some huge money loss!!

Default Its gone !!!!!!

YEAH !!!!! My headache is gone !!!!! And I am HAPPY to report I WILL NEVER , let me repeat that NEVER be a FORD owner again . I am so disappointed on how Ford is handling this issue with these cars . I have a complaint into them , but with the car being paid for I was told little to no attention was going to be paid to my complaint . That is fine ... I don't have to support your company by driving your poor excuse for a car either . I sold mine Transmission and all , for my asking price. I got very lucky and have a man who bought it who is a ford owner , knows the problems with these cars and has the ability and money to fix it . Bye Bye FORD... and sadly its true , what they say Found ON Road Dead ... Good luck to all the rest of you I really do wish you all the best...
