I bought a new Ford Edge Limited in March 2009, and now for the third time I was unable to get the car out of the park gear. This time it was when I was restarting the car after being out of the car for a couple hours. I had to get a ride to another meeting and when I came back, it would come out of park. The two other times I was driving the car, had to put it in park (I was in a drive-thru, which was very embarrasing), and it wouldn't come out of park. At the time, I didn't have the right tool to try and pop open what appears to be a manual release tab on the stickshift.....what the heck is going on? Anyone else have this problem? I'm taking it to the dealer asap.....

 

Most likely a flakey "Park Interlock Switch" A.K.A. "Brake Interlock Switch". Or the brake licht switch under the brake petal may be out of alignment.
