I have an 02 escape XLT 4wd that has almost no power. The engine is fine but when I put the car in any gear I can feel it engage but press the gas and the engine gains RPM no problem but the transmission acts like it just slips out. It started last night driving it slipped out, I pulled over killed it waited a few. When I restarted it put in gear it kinda pulled ok in 1st and 2nd then just slipped out. Please someone help me with whatever advice you have.

 

You didn't mention if you checked the fluid level.. Always a good starting point.

If all is well , suggest you have a shop check it out , could be a torque converter on it's way out.
