i recently had problems with my escape not starting. On tuesday when i was ready to leave work it would start or turn over, but the electronics are still working. It was suggested that I try starting it in neutral so I returned to work later and it started up fine. All day wednesday is starts fine. i get ready to head to work Thurs and it won't start again. The mechanic had problems getting is started a couple times he tried, then all of a sudden he gets it to start. He checks the diagnostics with no probs showing up, check the alternator and the starter wtih no problems. Its starts another 40 times and he tells me to come pick it up...nothing is wrong. Anyone else experienced this problem? Is the car reliable enough to drive far out of town?

 

Clean the battery cables and look for a bad fusible link or section of wire in the ignition wire to the starter solenoid.

 

I am having the same problem with a 2004 Escape, and most recently a 1995 Ranger, problem with the Ranger started 6 months ago, Escape problem started approximatley 3 months ago.
