Default 03 Won't crank, dash lights up like normal

My sister's 2003 escape recently began sporadically not starting. When trying to start, the dash lights up like normal, the car dings like normal, however nothing happens with the engine. It doesn't try to crank, nothing.

She took to a mechanic who test her battery, however it started like normal for them. And no codes were present. If she is persistent and keeps trying to start it, eventually it will start up the engine.

Any ideas?

There are several things that could cause a vehicle not to respond when attempting to start the engine.
Among them could be the security system, poor electrical connections involving the starting system, the starter itself even the ign switch.
It might be a good idea to have a more experienced person check your vehicle.
Throwing parts at it hoping to determine just what is the problem can get quite expensive and sometimes very disappointing.
A few different tests can sometimes determine the cause right away..
