2008 Ford Escape...to buy or not to buy?
Hey guys,
New to here. Looking at buying a 2008 Ford Escape with around 70 000 km on it. Do you guys like your Escapes? What are the major problems? How's the 4 wheel drive on it?
Thanks for your input!

I bought a 2008 Ford Escape in November. I got it through CarMax. Mine is not a 4WD, but I got it with only 32K miles on it. And CarMax gave me a history report so I know this vehicle was previously a leased fleet car. I chose this car over a Subaru Forester, primarily because of the size. I don't have to climb down into the seat and there is much more leg room in this cab than the Subaru. I'm getting about 22 MPG for everyday travel, a little less in this deep freeze that is Chicagoland and the Blizzard of 2011.
I am currently having a problem with the Shift Interlock, but I found some help in these forums (today is my first day on here). I'm waiting to talk to CarMax to have them take care of this, under the warranty. This is the only problem I have had with the car (so far, knock on wood).

I have a 2006 Escape (actually my wifes) and love it. Especially the AWD. It is awesome in compact snow/ice. It's hard to get the wheels to spin because the computers keep the power evenly distributed. The braking in snow/ice is the same. Smash on the brakes and controlled stop straight as an arrow. I know many mfgrs have this technology, and if they're as good as Fords, they are well worth it.
