2011 Ford Escape w/ tow light issues
We bought our Escape from a buy-here-pay-here place, and for the most part it's been running pretty well.
We have an event coming up and wanted to rent a uhaul trailer so we don't have to pile every single thing inside the vehicle, and renting a truck for the trip is out of the question.
A few months ago we rented a trailer to haul a wheelchair ramp, but when we hooked it up and the lights didn't work.
We finally got into the fuse box under the hood and -all- the fuses and relays for trailer lights are missing, but the Escape does have the wires off the back at the tow hitch.
What was missing were fuses 8 & 14, and relays 31C, 31D, & 31E
31B is also missing, but the info I found said it wasn't in use before, so I didn't worry about that one.
I bought the fuses and relays online, and was able to install the fuses, but the relays don't click into anything? The clips inside the fusebox housing are absent.
How can I replace those? I'm honestly not even sure what to google exactly, and we're not in a position to find a mechanic right now. Is this even something that the layperson can do or would it require wiring?
I can get pictures of the fuse box if needed.
We're located in KCMO, if that's relevant.
Thanks!
