Default Escape soft brakes

i just did a 4 wheel brake job replacing pads shoes drums and rotors on a 05 3.0 2wd escape. Now the pedal sinks half way down before you get decent braking. Any ideas?

Did you adjust the rear adjusters out just far enough to get the drums on? If not, and the adjusters are free and in good condition (caming edge and star wheels not worn) they just might improve as you do some short back up stops and the adjusters will adjust. Pads and shoes generally last about 30,000 mi. depending on brake usage. With an 05, what about the hydraulic parts? You did clean the caliper pistons before pushing them back into the caliper or open the bleeders before pushing all that dirty fluid back into the ABS right?
