I have a 2004 Ford Escape with 230,000 Miles. I recently bought 5-20w Valvoline High Millage oil since I'll be doing my first oil change myself on this SUV. But I've been told I need to use 5-30w oil since I have a lot of miles on my SUV. Is this true? I live in California If that's any help.

 

I would use whatever the oil cap says....if you use a lot of oil between changes than you could go 5-30 but since this is your first change go with the 5-20 and see what your consumption, if any is.
