We recently bought a 2022 Ford Escape SEL w/1.5L engine. After bringing home I noticed it did not have a hood insulation mat installed. The missing mat causes the windshield washer lines to flop down on top of the engine with the hood closed. I called the dealer parts department. He told me the 1.5L does not get a hood mat but the 2.0 engine has it. The part costs $110! The Escape came with some quality items like an AGM battery and Michelin tires, but why was the hood liner left off and washer lines left flopping? This is the first Ford I have owned and now I’m skeptical about owning one. If I find any more flaws/design errors, this will be the last Ford I own!!! Yes I did purchase a hood mat because it is necessary to keep the paint from wearing/disappearing from the center of the hood where the heat builds up after the engine is shut down.
