Default MPG for a 2014 Ford Escape

Hello -
I have a 2014 Ford Escape SE 1.6L EcoBoost (great smaller SUV). It has 75,000 miles.
Recently, I noticed that I'm not getting the MPG that I used to get.
Supposed to be 22 MPG city/ 30 MPG highway, 15.5 gal tank.
I'm getting 18 MPG (overall). Trying to figure out the problem.
I'm not sure if I have an issue with the gas gauge - I talked to my mechanic and asked if he
thought it was the sending unit. He didn't think so, because the gauge isn't acting erratically, and the check engine light
has not turned on. Wondering if it has something to do with the fuel?

If you are relying on the vehicle calculation, why not try your own method of using the miles traveled and the amount of fuel required to fill again.

Sometimes one piece of info changes and the result can be quite different.
