neutral safety switch
Have a 2003 Ford Escape 4wd 3.0 Automatic . Does anyone have a chart or diagram for the neutral safety switch that shows wire colors and what they used for. It is a 11 pin connector. Want to bypass switch just to see if that is my issue.
Thanks

Do you get the same result whether you attempt to start it in park or neutral?
You might try tracing the small wire from the starter solenoid (color) and see if you have that color at the MLPS. If so then all you need is a test lite to determine which is the power feed there. You did check all the fuses right? Sometimes the adjustment or cable control gets loose and doesn't position the MLPS correctly. I would rather confirm what you want to check with a test lite or meter , it's safer.

I'm not sure I am getting the right info.
First you state, the starter will operate when you bypass the solenoid , but the engine does not start.
Then you state the anti-theft is providing power to the relay. I am confused because if the power is supplied to the relay , does it require a ground to operate? That may be what the anti-theft system provides is the ground for the starter solenoid/relay to operate.
Can you tell us what the anti theft lite is doing when attempting to start the engine?
With your vehicle the key code is verified by the PATS functionality inside the PCM which controls fuel pump, injector and starter relay operation.
When you turn the key on to run or start the THEFT lamp is on for 2-3 seconds as a bulb check. If there are no faults the lamp will remain off after the bulb check.
If there is a system fault, the lamp will do one of the following depending on the type being used, On and then flashing
On solid for 60 seconds
