Parking lights wire?
Anyone able to help me out with this one? I am installing a remote start system in my girlfriends 2010 Ford Escape and one of the wires I need to hook into is a purple with white trace which is the PARKING LIGHTS OUTPUT WIRE(POSITIVE OUTPUT). There are a lot of these wires in this color, I have probed several of them with the parking lights on with a voltmeter looking for the 12V positive, and have not yet been able to find it. Is there a distinctive spot to f ind it that it would be the only purple with white trace so that I can complete the installation? This is the last thing I have to do to complete....
I have found the wire up at the front parking light and have confirmed that the color is purple with white trace, however, the wires go into the front quarter panel and come out somewhere in the lower drivers kick panel, just can't find where with all the bundles of wire down there.
Sometimes it is prudent to just run a wire from the last place you see the wire you want and neatly tuck it in and bundle it with the rest. Also it can be quite a pain to work in the close quarters in a tight harness. It is usually easier to splice it in at an area where you can do a better job because you have more room to work.
I agree with you Hanky, but the only place I can find this wire is up at the parking lights at the front end of the car. Even if I splice an additional wire onto the one for the remote starter since it isn't long enough to reach there, will all the parking lights turn on like they are supposed to if I splice it into that one or just that light? I'm thinking they would since it should be a complete circuit, but am not sure, what do you think?
