Stumped ....
Trying to do my best to prevent a problem I took my 99 Escort 219,000 in for a tune up. Plugs, filters, idel control cleaning. After getting my car back, the engine light comes on which was not on before I took it in. Its been off for the last year with no problems The code that came up was 1506 which is an over rev code to my knowledge. It was found that the mechanic had bumped the pvc hose and it cracked . They fix the hose pro bono and I am on my way.
The engine light comes back on less than a mile later, and the same code came up. The mechanic again cleared it and said it was working correctly at the time. The light comes back on once more and goes off again. I went over 600 miles without the light on, but it came back on today.
I am really just trying to fix my car without being taken to the cleaners over it. I know it relates to the ICA valve and the PVC valve, but had no luck in finding the part for my car.Any insight would be great ! I am more than willing and able to do the simple things, but have no idea where to start. Thanks !!

P1506 is set when the PCM detects an 'overspeed' or off spec idle.. Vacuums leaks, or any unmetered air entering the intake 'raising' the idle can set the DTC.. If you had no codes prior to the service, and had no real running issues prior to the mechanics work, I'd start there.. If the IAC was/is damaged, or just tired at 219K it certainly couldbe the cause.. Also, a stuck/open EVAP valve can set the code.. If the idle is above normal, unplug the IAC and see if it drops/stalls..
I have no real troubles with or without the light on. It has always idled unevenly while stopped at a light for the past year when they said it was running right. I figured it was supposed to idle like that and that is was improper before that lol .. Thanks for your answer, I will be sure to check that out !
Might not hurt to replace a couple parts at that mileage. PollutionControlValve , IdleAirControl - and I'd be certain to have had a new catalytic converter by that mileage. If you've been keeping regular maintenance - it's good to write down when a part was replaced to be able to judge how likely or how long it might be before the next failure and helps rule out newer parts as a culprit during a failure.
