Default synthetic oil and Duratech 3.0L

Hello. I apologize for being lazy; I have a feeling this may have been covered before.

I have a low milage (60s) 2001 Escape. I went to a (Mopar) dealership for an oil change and after the fact they told me they only do synthetic blend now. Lucky me, no extra charge. Anyway, engine runs fine but it is noisier now with a slight tapping sound. Why? Just because this oil is thinner? Any reason to not stick with synthetic? Cheers

I dont want to say anything about the tapping noise without more info about it, but if the oil is the correct weight and at the correct level its not the issue. Motorcraft oil is synthetic blend already.
I use full sythetic on both my vehicles and dont have any issues caused by it.

Conventional oil overtime leaves a gunk buildup on the internal of the engine, not on moving parts but on parts that dont get much flow, this ends up acting like a extra seal, unintentionally preventing oil leaks.
Synthetic oil cleans the engine better and removes these gunk deposits, which shouldn't be there in the first place.
When people first switched from conventional oil to synthetic especially on high mileage engines that would have a lot of gunk buildup from conventional oil the engines started leaking since the synthetic did its job and cleaned the engine better but people saw it as this horrid new product caused my engine to leak when the old stuff never did that.
That seems to be the reason that rumors are still around about synthetic oil being bad.

Hello. I drained a couple of quarts and replaced with 5W-20 conventional and the slight valvetrain noise disappeared. It was minor anyway so I will probably go back to blend.

You could also try a heaver weight synth blend or full synth. My Tacoma was making a hair of noise so I went up by one weight and the noise is gone.
But honestly I wouldn't worry about it myself.

I don't see any problem in using synthetic oil. I have been using it for quite a long time and there have been no such problems, although it may depend on the viscosity. Moreover, I learned how to change the oil in my car on my own. You can save a lot of money). In addition, there is a lot of information on the Internet about this, for example 2013 Ford Fusion Oil Change Guide. An excellent guide if you are interested.
