Update: We got the latch handle to open by using a "clamp" to get enough leverage to open the hatch of the hatchback. Is There a way/directions to either change out the handle or something so I can open the hatchback. I can live with it not being able to be locked if have to.

See update above. Can't get my 1996 Escort Hatchback to open. ideas. It has been locked & unlocked many times. Is it possible it got stuck in a locked mode. Thank you
