Default Oil leaking from charcoal cannister?

Just recently noticed an oil leak dripping from charcoal cannister on my 93 escort lx wagon. Any suggestions as to where I should begin my search for the origin? I don't see any obvious suspects...thanks in advance !

t would be almost impossible for oil to get into the canister. Are you sure it is oil and not gasoline?

yes, it is definitely oil. Upon further inspection, looks as if it is originating from the air breather compartment and dripping down to the charcoal filter, trying to figure out why that would be.....Thanks for your help Hanky.

Suggest you do a thorough inspection of the PCV system.
If the engine is building up pressure because the PCV system isn't working correctly , It can because of that built up pressure , blow oil out , the easiest place.
Also, we don't know the condition of the engine internal parts , worn piston rings can allow compression to blow oil out ,sometimes out the intake too.

Hanky, you are the man. While checking hoses yesterday, I found that the elbow from pcv hose that goes into the top was crimped shut. got a different elbow and doesn't appear to be leaking now. (after I cleaned out air breather ) Again, thank you for your assistance. The old girl is back to her normal self.

Oh, and while on the subject, is it a normal thing for these babies to run like crap while ac is on? while off, no issues, ac on.....crap...I haven't seen alot about that, but I have owned 3 now and every one ran like crap when ac was on so I usually just don't use it. I assumed that they don't exactly have a bunch of power anyway and it just draws too much...thanks again

Can you help us out with a little more info?

When you select the A/C mode, does the engine speed drop down , stay the same or increase , but idles less smoothly?

Has anyone done anything to the A/C system at any time? If so, what?

Yes sir, engine speed seems to bog down very noticeably along with sputtering as if missing. The actual ac is very cold, blows nice, just engine runs like crap while it is on. No, I haven't done anything to AC. Drastic loss of power and sputtering is the best way to describe
