Default 2004 Ford Expedition

Whenever I put my Expedition the engine cuts out. When its in drive all is good but if I stop and put it in Park then then it starts cutting out. Any idea what the problem could be?

A good start would be to have the reason for the C/E lite coming on. Some auto supply stores will do this for you. Get the code in the computer and go from there. Please remember, the code doesn't always tell you the exact cause only which system is causing the problem(s). ,,,,,,hanky

The only thing is now it will not idle. Even in drive. you have to constantly be giving it gas. If you remove your foot from the accelarator wether in park, neutral or drive the engine cuts out.

I connected a code reader to it and got the following

P0506

Idle Control System RPM Low

Any ideas? Some one told me it may be the Idle Air Control Valve.

Before you go to replace the IAC valve, why not try this? Check the entire intake system for any leaks (vacuum hose off or leaking) including the air filter itself. Just start at the point where the air comes in for the engine, and trace the system all the way back to the throttle body. We're also checking for any plugging (obstructions).

Forgot to suggest; check the throttle body for dirt. Use a clean rag ang make sure the passage and throttle blade are pretty clean.,,,,,,hanky
