Hey guys I have a 2018 Ford expedition a few days ago I was driving it in the freeway then out of no we’re the truck put is self in limp mode I could smell something hit and a faint smell of gas. So I had it towed to Ford and the tow truck drive couldn’t get it out of park and now the dealership can’t get it out of park as well it like it is locked up but has never done that to me be for and thoughts.

 

The reason the system goes into limp mode is to prevent further damage to certain parts of the vehicle.

The object now is to determine what happened to cause that and a capable scan tool is a must as well as the necessary info to see what is wrong.

A special function of some scan tools will provide the data at the time the problem appeared (Freeze Frame) and then the systems can be further checked to determine just what went wrong.
I have a problem with the dealership not being able to find the problem and the cause, but they won't do it for free.
Sometimes it can be something simple and other times it can get really involved to chase the cause down.
