what is the most economical way to aquire a new key for a 2000 expedition. the car is parked in driveway with front end twards garage.

If the key is lost, then you are in a bit of trouble. Ford uses a PATS system that has a transponder that gets it's signal from the special key. The only way to get it going again is to follow my advise..................

Tow it to a dealership. They can cut 2 new PATS keys from your VIN# and then the computer they use will do a key code erase. Then both new keys will be reprogrammed. You must have 2 keys for this and they are like $26.00 each plus the labor to reprogram.

You probably have a key by now but thought I'd offer this info............you can get the blank transponder keys from the internet. I bought 2 extra keys as spares from ebay and paid only $12 each. I then had a friend cut the keys at his shop. They work great and only cost me a fraction of the dealer price.
