Problem with front brakes
2011 Expedition EL 5.4
So, I have gone through a set of brand new pads on the front driver side of this vehicle in 4 months. I tend to think stuck caliper.
I also have another related situation:
For the last 6 months or so, my dashboard is lit up like a Christmas tree with every brake light and message indicating a problem. People have indicated that this is a generic code, and unfortunately Forscan isn't telling me anything else. On the surface B1342-E0 seems to be a bad ABS ECU. In this case I tend to believe it, because as I recall I pulled up the PIDs for each wheel sensor, and I was able to see on/off data for each sensor.
SO!!!!!!!! My question:
Could there be ANYTHING to do with B1342 that would cause one wheel to burn through a set of brakes. I tend to think no, but I wanted to check with you all for your thoughts on all of this before I proceed.

- I do my own brake work.
- ABS, BRAKE, TRACTION CONTROL - Also, the message center displays SERVICE ADVANCETRAC, and another message I don't recall at the time. All of that is contributing to the B1342 error I believe.
Most DIY folks don't clean the caliper slide pins /surfaces and just replace the pads. There is a lot more to doing brake work than most folks realize.
Pushing the dirty caliper piston back into the caliper can score the seal, plus pushing the contaminated brake fluid back into the ABS system is asking for trouble.
Over lubing with the incorrect lube invites dirt and trash collection to the sliding surfaces and should be used sparingly. It can be dirty work, but cleanliness is essential.
There are some folks willing to take short cuts not realizing , "You will pay later"..
The better way to diagnose what it is going on with the codes set , involves using a quality scan tool that can provide a graphing picture of just what is going on with each wheel speed sensor. There are great tools available to diagnose these type problems and unfortunately most folks don't either have them or know how to use them.
Today's vehicles require a little more knowledge to chase down problems and again most folks don't have the background or tools to do the job properly.
When a problem is out of your field of knowledge and experience, best to have a qualified shop handle the diagnosis and repairs.

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I have been doing brakes for more years than I have been alive. Do I know everything there is to know? Absolutely not. Am I an expert? No, But I think I have some level of understanding. None of this answers my question though. Could this code be causing me to wear pads? Is the computer able to do something in this condition that will wear pads?
As far as the scan tool, I already covered that in my original post. I monitored the on/off status of all 4 sensors. Also, all of my lights on the dash come up before I shift out of PARK, so I seriously doubt it is a sensor (but not impossible).

The ABS runs a voltage signal down the speed sensors as the key is turned on to verify the integrity of the wiring and sensors. If all is not right it does let you know and that is what it is trying to tell you.
Not wanting to be disrespectful, but I would bet you don't open the bleeders when you compress the caliper pistons to install the pads. Yes/No ?
Let's face it, most bleeders would get wrung off and caliper replacement becomes necessary and lots of folks don't want to get that involved..
There could be a restriction in a brake hose preventing pressure from being completely released or possibly the master cyl is not returning all the way to allow all the fluid to return when the brake pedal is released
