Default Shifter tube problem?

I have a 1999 ford expedition. I'm not sure of part names, but i brought pics! My gear selector came apart after a bolt that connects it to shift tube backed out. While repairing, a little aluminum piece falls out, had a little grease on it. I couldn't find it's place so i left or alone. Now, i can't shift to anything other than drive and if I try to get into park, i get a loud grind from what seems to be transmission. It only makes the noise going into park.

Then? I finally found it watching a video about resetting gear indicator. Right where the gear selector attaches to shift tube, there's a little cylinder that sticks out. That's the piece that broke. Would that cause the issue I'm having?
