1998 4.6 Expedition will not start. Battery is good checked volts all the way to the starter and its good. I even tried to jump across the sel. all I get is a ping in the starter? Any clues before I pull the starter....

There are times when one sharp tap with a hammer to the starter will get the starter to operate. This is only a temporary measure , but has been known to work in order to get the vehicle started and moved to a more convenient workplace.

One little test before you pull the starter.
With the headlites on, and you or someone, try to start the vehicle, depending on what the headlites do ,would determine whether you should pull the starter.
If the lights go out, you have a bad connection in the battery supply to the vehicle. If the headlites dim or don't change much , the starter or it's related wiring are suspect.
Let us know what you found.

Is the flywheel inspection cover hindering the removal process?
