My 2000 Ford explorer is having transmission problems do you recommend changing the fluid and filter? It has 160,000 miles. It sat for three years and didn't have a problem before that. Also when I checked the fluid it was reading overfull

 

I helps to know just what kind of problem and don't know if you had the engine running, shifted through all the gears before checking the fluid level. Passages can drain after sitting for a lengthy period of time.
