2021 and 2022 Explorer rear window washer
My 2021 Ford Explorer and a friend’s 2022 Ford Explorer both have a problem with the rear window washer. The nozzle at the top of the wiper blade just dribbles washer cleaner and only cleans the top half of the wiper radius. The bottom half of the radius remains dirty even though the wiper swipes the full radius. Our service writer checked and advised Ford does not note any known issues creating this problem.
If the reservoir for the rear washer has fluid in it, there is a possibility the pump needs to be replaced.
What can be done to make sure it is the pump and not a clogged nozzle at the wiper.
Remove the hose from the nozzle and operate the rear wiper sw. If it shoots out ,the nozzle has some dirt in the nozzle. If it dribbles out the hose when the switch is activated then the pump is defective and needs to be replaced. Most folks don't know there is a separate reservoir for the rear wiper. Check your owner's manual.

My manual for my 2021 says Note: The front and rear washer systems are supplied from the same reservoir.
I believe it is just one reservoir.
RC, my 2021 Explorer manual has the same note. I was hoping to find if others have the same problem of the windshield wiper washer only spraying the top half of the wiper radius. Both my 2021 and a friend's 2022 Explorer have this issue. Our service writer checked and advised Ford has no notice of this being an issue.
