Default help a lady please

I've got a 2001 6 cyl explorer. Its overheating. Plenty of coolant & water. I want to replace the water pump and thermostat.

Does anyone have a website that shows a graphic or schematic of this?

I know just enough about cars and trucks to be kinda dangerous, lol, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
Sharon

"Plenty of coolant and water" implies that your head gasket is good, but a double check of your oil dipstick to make sure no foaming or water might be a good thing to do. The same goes for the water pump. If it isn't leaking, it's probably good (unless it sheared the shaft or some other rare event). I would just try the thermostat and give it a try from there...as long as no other failures are evident. Also, you may want to inspect the radiator from the front to make sure it's not plugged with leaves or something. I've also used the garden hose to run water from the aft side of the radiator, and push out debris from the front side. My trucks are older and this may not be an issue for you. If you do this, be careful not to damage the cooling fins of the radiator. Hope this helps.

Hayapower - I got the instructions, thanks. You're right I can't see the graphics.

Its definitely my thermostat, I sent you an email also - I was wondering if I can take the thermostat out and drive 20 miles into town to get anew one?

Thanks,
Sharon
