Ford ExplorerThis long running SUV has stood tough against the barrage of new entries into the mid sized SUV market, and with a variety of engine sizes and trim lines, the Exploder offers something for everyone.
Hey, I've got a 2014 explorer xlt and have been searching for hours on help with installing a factory sub (mine didn't come with one when I got it used). I know that the factory sub probably isn't the best option, but I got one free from a buddy who got his replaced with after market (thru best buy).
I could just pay someone to install, but wondering if its easy enough to just do myself.
I cant find any YouTube videos or any instructions on steps needed to install the subwoofer. Is the factory sub "plug & play" or close to it? Does it go on the right or left rear cargo side? I cant find anything so I'm pretty clueless right now.
The subwoofer is behind the right rear quarter panel. Looks pretty easy to me, may take 2 hours max if you have no experience pulling trim panels.

Thanks for all the detail! So I tried, couldn't get it, then took to for dealer who told me that even though I have an xlt there are apparently different sound system levels and mine doesn't have the separate built in amp to hook the subwoofer into. Ugh.
Didn't realize that wasn't standard on an xlt. Not sure if I can buy the accompanying amp separate, or if there are other components I would need as well... might not be worth all the trouble/cost
