I broke my key
I recently dropped my lanyard while on my motorcycle and my ford key for my 2006 for explorer got ran over. The key still had some pieces on it so the car started but eventually the piece which now I know had a the transponder in it fell off and now the car won’t start. The lock smith came out and said he programmed the key but gave me a generic looking key and the car still won’t start. My question is does it have to be a specific key with a specific chip to be able to program it. The security light on the dash is also blinking a 13 code.
Any advice ?
Any advice ?
The key must be programmed to the vehicle.
If the locksmith cut and PROGRAMMED the new key to your vehicle it should start. Providing there is no other problem with the vehicle.
That 13 code says there is a problem with the key. When you say a generic looking key , is it all metal looking or does it look like your old key ?
