Exclamation Just bought 96 explorer xlt need help...

I just bought a 1996 Explorer XLT and I've noticed that when i turn the switch that controls the heat and a/c the fan speed seetings only work on low and high, not the two inbetween. My question is, is this a blower motor issue or a switch issue? How easy or difficult is it to replace either one. Also, I used to have a 1994 Explorer Sport and i still have a blower motor from it. Are the blower motors in the 94 Sport and the 96 XLT interchangable or should i just try to sell the blower motor??? Thanks for taking the time to read and possibly help out.

If the motor works on lo and hi , there are 2 possibilities remaining why it doesn't work on the other speeds. Either the blower switch is defective or the blower resistor is defective. The motor is ok. A visual check of the blower switch may reveal some overheated contacts.
