Default lower ball joints on a 2000 explorer

Found out I need to change out the lower ball joints on the A-arms of my 00 explorer4x4. I'm told they need to be pressed out of the arms. How hard are they pressed in there? Can I just rig up one of my pullers to get them out, maybe with some heat? I really don't want to pay an estimated 5hrs shop time for someone to do it for me.

Harbor Freight has a press setup that is about $50. You can also get a loaner at Autozone. There is a snap ring on the top side of the lower A arm that needs to be removed before you pull the ball joints. You can press them in with the same tool you took them out with or a floor jack. Probably best to soak them overnight with PB Blaster or Kroil before starting.

ahh forgot about harbor freight, the best place to go for cheap tools that will probably only be used once. Thanks J.A.F.E.
