upper & lower ball joints???
H
Hello. I have a 97 Ford F-150. Yesterday as I backed out of my yard I heard a big thud noise come from under the truck as I was turning my steering wheel backing out. I continued driving and 5 minutes later the thud noise continued several times. Finally each tie the noise occurred the steering wheel would slightly jerk and a scrubbing noise was hear. Each thud lasted about 2 or 3 seconds. When I returned home I drove 30 mph with my blinkers on and the noise happened once. This morning I drove it to a mechanics's shop and I drove the regular speed and no noise happened and no wheel jerking. 3 hours later the mechanic called and said they needed to replace the upper and lower ball joints. With labor and parts it would be around 800 dollars. Is this the normal price range? Is this typical "symptoms" of ball joint problems? I'm waiting to hear from anyone. Thanks![:@]
