Recall 2020 to 2022 Explorer
I went to my local Ford dealer this AM to see what they knew about the recall. Short answer is "nothing"
Apparently Ford is going to issue recall notices to the public about June 6th.
There is a lot of information on the internet about the cause and possible fixes. Time will tell if there is any truth to what the internet is saying.

There is a problem involving the trans not being all the way in park when shut down and the vehicle was allowed to roll if on any type of incline.
There is also a newer service bulletin that pertains to a bolt in the drive line breaking allowing the vehicle to move and the trans not being connected to prevent that.

From what we have been able to tell the issue has nothing to do with the transmission or park. It has to do with a bolt or some other part that fails related to the mounting and placement of the differential. It is related to repeated spirited driving such as might be encountered in a police vehicle. In non-hot rod driven vehicles it may only involve computer reprogramming to set the parking brake when the vehicle is put into park. For now, that is all I think I know about the recall.
Ford has issued a RECAL for 2018-2022 Explorers/Aviators due to a design flaw in the differential/axle mount
Ford Recalls 2020 - 2022 Explorer Over Rear Axle Mounting Bolt Fracturing Issue
This flaw has caused a multitude of problems. Sadly the OEM fix is a band aid at BEST and will fail as well. Fortunately there is a CURE designed and built here in the USA by Anthony Woodford Racing in Vista CA. The owner is well known as the developer and builder of the Spec Miata suspension package for Mazda Motorsports and for being Chief Crew Chassis for the GTP championship NISSAN team

HERE is their cure..

The above is a bit extreme for a problem with a fairly simple fix that really has involved a few units (235). It apparently involves units that are often driven aggressively. The new bolt, where appropriate, seems like a good fix. The reprogramming would seem like just a little extra to insure safety.
To date I have seen nothing of this recall for my 2021 Explorer with 2.3 engine and AWD. The reason may be because the 2.3 AWD versions may not be included. Below is what I found on one of the web sites.
"Dated: APR 14, 2022 Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Explorer Police FHEV, Explorer Police 3.3L, and 2020-2022 Explorer 2.3L RWD, 3.0L PHEV, 3.3 L FHEV, and 3.0L ST GAS vehicles."
Has anyone gotten a notice yet?
