1988 f150 AOD leaking from pan
Hey y’all, I’m new here and im hoping someone can help me out. I’ve had an issue since my first change with the fluid. It’s been leaking from the pan since. The first attempt I used a gasket and silicone, it leaked on the 4th day. I used straight silicone, leaked 2nd day, I pulled it off and did it again, leaked after the 1st and the 4th time I had help with it, again straight silicone, leaked after a week, I was thinking on using cork but I was told both good and bad about those gaskets. Any suggestions on what I should do?
Thank you I appreciate the help, I’m not an expert at this, what kind of gasket would be best material wise? And what pattern should I use to tighten the pan and how tight should I have it? Sorry for questioning everything I’m throwing money at it for fluid and I would like for this to be the last time to mess with it. And if you have a part number I would greatly appreciate it! Finding the right gasket is hard with the part stores I’m around.

Second the no sealer.
Sometimes a very lite tack spray is ok holding the gasket in place on the pan side only. It can help with gaskets that have been package folded etc.
Never silicon, especially with cork, it's slippery and will squeeze the gasket out or 'fish mouth' the bolt holes in the gasket on out allowing a leak there.
Some of the aftermarket gaskets,, they punch the holes larger than needed. Get a good quality gasket.
And, if the pan has been over tightened, or tightened too many times, check the flange surface for flat.. 'Peening' the hole portions of the pan down a tad at the hole surface helps with a re seal.
If a reusable gasket, no sealer at all, check the pan for flat especially at the hole areas for 'crowning'.

Thank you I appreciate the help, I got one called in and my dad will pick it up, and I noticed that it’s also leaking oil from the valve cover, same deal for that too? Good quality gaskets from ford?
