Default 1988 ford 5.0 AOD transmission problem

I’ve had an issue today and only today, since I fixed my pan I went on a 30 minute drive to my cousins to help put in headlights then after I had left his house then it struggled to go into gears and when I went to a stop It wouldn’t shift out of 4th. Then I got on the highway and got back up to speed, but I lost 4th, then 3rd, then 2nd. I only had first. I reverse slammed jt a few times then slammed hard on the last 2. Still stuck in first and it won’t go up in gear. I even held jt at full throttle. Still nothing

Since you brought up about your pan, what happened, how did you find out that you had to fix it and what did you do about the fix?

When I first bought the truck I replaced the transmission fluid and used rtv to reseal the pan to the transmission, but I had a nonstop leak with it and I have fought this for a while now but I fixed the problem thru this forum by checking for warps and crowning then used a cork gasket to fix the problem, which it did.
But I’ve had an issue where on cold weathers it would not move while in gear. But after a minute or two after it would grab gear and roll on, but losses jt again after. But a few days ago I checked the fluid in it and instead of bright red it was black with metal shavings.. it hasn’t been touched since I posted this thread. I Parked it at a safe place and got picked up. Is the transmission done? Or can it be saved with a rebuild?

Metal pieces in the trans fluid is never a good sign. A good trans rebuilder will "hopefully"replace the needed / worn parts.
Ask what kind of guaranty they will give.

I just got the truck back from the shop sorry for the long wait, I ran into some personal issues getting the truck into the shop. But they rebuilt the transmission and left a note on the receipt saying what went out, drum stripped, forward clutches burnt, and a broke band.
