Question 1995 F150 runnning bad

I have a 1995 F150 with a 1992 5.0 motor. I have changed the spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap, rotor, fuel pressure regulator, even made sure the timing is correct. Its symptoms are... Hard starting, running rough, running rich, when you shift into drive or reverse it wants to die.Its not throwing any codes...Does anyone have any ideas to lead me into the right direction?

Check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail, 35-45 lbs.

Have you ever looked under the hood at night? That engine, I had a 93, arcs and sparks like no other engine even with new wires. The firing sequence causes some bizarre electrics under the hood and I always thought that was the source of the poor engine performance for that 5.0. That being said I limped it along for 212,000 miles before it finally died although I did have my share of issues its entire life.

Long ago, there was a TSB for the 5.0 regarding proper routing of the ignition wires. I am sure it was for arcing and cross firing. Old worn out plugs with widen gaps didn't help the situation.

Not knowing what method you used to replace the plug wires, most folks will attempt to do them all at one time which on certain engines can cause problems.

On your 92 engine make sure the wires for cyl 7 & 8 do not run next to one another. We usually placed then at opposite ends of the routing of the 4 wires on that bank so as to prevent induced current and have a cyl fire early and present problems.

If you got it to start you most likely got # 1 in the right place and went in the right direction on the dist cap.

A little side note, those engines, did have problems with soft valve guides and required that to be corrected to improve performance.
