Default 2000 F150 4.6L triton v8

My uncles truck is having some issues. While driving it cuts off and will not start back up. A ford dealership did put a computer in and it was for a manual transmission. They say it keeps knocking the conputer out. But they cant get any hard codes. Will that cause any problems like this?? Most of the time. It will start 3 out of 10 times. And new fuel pump i believe is on it. Oh. And It is a auto transmission.

I have seen a voltage spike from a defective coil wipe out a PCM and a defective alternator can do that too.
